My pencil hovered over the paper… what to draw? I was confused, my mind trying to find an idea.

This happened to me ever since I was younger. I can’t remember clearly when or how I started to like drawing, but it’s been a part of me ever since. I was a big fan of comics, one of my favorites being Calvin & Hobbes. I always loved just flipping through the collection books, such as There’s Treasure Everywhere, The Days Are Just Packed, Something Under The Bed Is Drooling, The Revenge of The Baby-Sat, and Attack of the Deranged Mutant Killer Monster Snow Goons to name a few.

But then I thought, “If Bill Watterson can make comics, so can I!” One of my earliest that I can remember was called The Amazing Ghost Boy and Jason the Great. It was about a boy named Jason and a ghost he befriends that turn into superheroes. Only problem was, I never said anything on how the ghost and Jason met or anything. They were just together. So the two went to school together, and for some reason, everyone thought the ghost was just visible. (I was around 6 or 8, I wasn’t very good with plot points.) The two go on a class trip to the nuclear plant. (I should’ve have made a Homer Simpson reference, but I wasn’t aware of The Simpsons until WAY later on in my life.) Of course, the bully that hates Jason and Ghost’s(I don’t think I ever gave him a name, so I just called him Ghost.) guts of course, shoves them into the radioactive liquids, (which honestly, for my 6 or 8 year old mind, that was pretty dark. But hey, they’ve got to get superpowers somehow!) turning them into The Amazing Ghost and Jason the Great. Jason is suddenly able to fly, and they fly back to the house. The ghost gets super buff(for whatever reason, I was a strange child.), but Jason claims that nothing really happened to him. But Ghost says that SOMETHING must’ve happened, because in the same panel, Jason is levitating off the ground. Jason takes off his glasses and realizes that he can still see clearly without them on. (I know, pretty stupid…) But when they hear a cry for help, the two rush to the scene. A man is claiming that a werewolf is attacking him. Jason asks where he is, but the werewolf jumped up behind and howls out him loudly. Jason and Ghost battle it out, with Jason socking the beast in the stomach, sending him flying into the air. But during the battle, Jason gets bit by the werewolf. (I swear, what was wrong with me as a kid?) The next day, Ghost notices that Jason is sleeping for way longer than usual. Ghost, being oblivious, decides to leave him alone for now, and flies off. However, he spots a group of people scared and stuck in a group. Ghost flies down and asks what’s wrong, and they say that they were attacked by a werewolf. Ghost makes the sudden realization that it couldn’t have been the werewolf from last night, and that he remembers that Jason was bit when they were fighting. And… cliffhanger. For some reason though, I never continued the series after that. I did revivals as I got older, but I just ultimately just dropped the idea.

And then I found Big Nate.

I believe it was Big Nate: In a Class By Himself being my introduction to the Big Nate series. I loved the style of the characters, and my favorite character was, of course, Nate. I only remember doing one mini fan comic. It was a really stupid one, so I’ll spare you all.

Then, I realized that comics could be about anything. I was a HUGE fan of video games(and I still am today), and seeing YouTube videos like Legend of Miyamoto, (link in the description) I set out to make awesome comics. But I quickly ran into a problem. I was a huge art critic of myself, and I thought that when something was stupid, I dropped it. That why if you looked through a bunch of notebooks from back then, you’ll see a lot of comics… but only a few of them got finished.

But video game comics stuck with me through school, and I even did a mini comic/video game plan for a video game I maybe wanted to develop. I can’t remember the title, but it was a fantasy/RPG game that was a little bit similar to games like Final Fantasy and Chrono Trigger. When you started, the game would then let you create the character you wanted to play as during the game. You’d of course get the options such as eyes, hairstyles, gender, body size and type, but I mixed it up, doing something similar to Skyrim, where “the chosen one” wouldn’t just be limited to a human, but the only way to unlock that would be to beat the game first. The story begins with you being woken up by your little sibling downstairs saying that there was something going on in the town. The two of you walked out, and would see a knight explaining that he had come here to find someone to replace him on his journey, and you’d notice that he looked pretty beat up. But out of nowhere, he decides YOU should be the one to take over his quest. You of course, were shocked to hear this, but you took up his request.

And that leads us to today. I’m still doing drawings of my video game characters, writing stories about said characters or something else. And I’m very sure that isn’t going to stop anytime soon.

15 watchers already. I really thank you guys for following me and all you’ve done. Thanks for the support, and continue to do so!
